Using the ancient japanese technique “shou sugi ban” we char the wood to better expose the intricate grain which leaves you with a sofisticated object of nature which brings warmth to any space.
Carved from natural local hardwood, as such it will respond to temperature and humidity variations by expanding and contracting, this movement can create cracks as it adjusts - this is not a fault, but a natural occurrence withing the natural wood. Overtime this adds to the character and patina of the piece

Shou Sugi Ban: This side table was created from a salvaged hard maple stump, touch with a flame, it takes on a raw patina which brings warmth and a grounded connection to any home. The raw irregularities of salvaged wood, brings with it a distinctive character. It is our hope that this object becomes used on a daily bases in your home and is one day passed on as a beloved heirloom, an heirloom which comes with generations of stories of living life to its fullest.
Species: Hard Maple - Ontario Hardwood: The stump used to make this side table came from a salvaged tree which had been blown down in a wind storm in Cambridge Ontario.
Maintenance: This side table has been finished with a hard oil which contains no VOC, and resin. Simply wipe with a damp cloth, NEVER use abrasive or any cleaners containing amonia, bleach or vinegar, and most certainly do not use sprays such as pledge as they create a film overtime. If you get scratches simply wipe and buff, but these add to the character of this object which is worthy of occuping space in your home.
